Derived from illustrations conceived for the novel “The Deck of the Numinon”, the artist, Bluebird of Wales, was caught up with the notion of illustrating an entire 78 card deck. Her goal was to create a serious deck which would appeal to professional readers. To that end, much of the traditional Tarot references were maintained, with some notable exceptions. The Suits of Wands and Pentacles were changed to Quills and Roses, to highlight art and nature as part of the process. The goal was to incorporate a wider range of thought than those religion-based ethics  provided by the Rider-Waite et.al., including aboriginal and shamanic frameworks within which to work.
The deck features larger cards suitable for the practice and formality of the professional reader.
